National Water Quality Monitoring Programme for Groundwater and Surface Water
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, nationwide
TDS supported the national environmental regulator in building a sustainable, Kingdom-wide water-quality monitoring programme. The work combined review of all historical quality data with a nationwide sampling campaign of 2,000 groundwater and surface-water samples, hydrogeochemical modelling, identification of contamination hotspots and their likely sources, evaluation of treatment scenarios, a national water-quality database, and a unified monitoring framework aligned with international best practice and national regulation, delivered with stakeholder workshops and training.
Outcome: contamination hotspots and sources mapped across the Kingdom; a national database and monitoring framework in place; the technical, operational and financial basis for the national baseline survey and information system.
