Scope

Design, Construction Supervision and Upgrade of Roads and Infrastructure

After severe flooding hit parts of Al Ain, the municipality launched a programme to upgrade the roads and infrastructure of the affected districts and make them resilient to extreme rainfall. TDS was appointed for the engineering services across both phases. In the design phase TDS carried out the full engineering design for Al Amrah, Al Salamat and the Industrial Area: flood-impact analysis, stormwater drainage design and the infrastructure upgrades that protect roads, utilities and communities from future events. In the construction phase TDS is the supervision consultant for all four areas, with a resident site team of resident and assistant resident engineers, land surveyors, a quantity surveyor, a materials engineer, an HSE engineer, a technical inspector and document controllers overseeing the contractor on the municipality’s behalf: conformance to the approved designs, specifications and quality standards, progress against the approved schedule, health, safety and environmental compliance on site, and coordinated submittals, reports and correspondence. The sites lie more than 150 km apart, which demands tight field coordination and close communication with every stakeholder
